United Service for Christian Unity This service will be held on Thursday 20th January at 7-30pm here in church followed by light refreshments. The special service has been devised by and will be conducted by members of the Last Thursday Group. All are welcome. Last Thursday Group The group meets (usually) on the Last Thursday of the month. It is an ecumenical group which meets in various homes. The evening normally starts with a couple of songs followed by a prayer and then a talk by a guest speaker and is rounded off with coffee/tea and biscuits (and sometimes cake !!) and general chat. It is a relaxed, friendly and interesting evening with no pressure on those who attend. The speaker on the 27th will be the Revd Robert Quarton, Rector of St Mary's Darley Dale who looked after us during the interregnum and he will speak about his experiences in Uganda. Meet at the home of Revd Adrian and Mrs Sue Smith, "The Retreat", Old Coach Road at 7-45pm. (Jean and Paddy McDermid's old home) All are welcome. Come and enjoy the fellowship. Children's Society Many thanks to all who contributed to the Society over the past year. A cheque for the magnificent sum of £786.59 has been sent to the Society. This is made up of money collected over the year in House-boxes, contributions at Christingle and half the collection taken at the Christmas Eve Carol Service. We now have 41 people with House-boxes (10 new collectors this year) and 6 Shop-boxes.
