The beautiful gentle island of Mauritius is the sugar cane island of the Indian Ocean. Fields of cane are broken by small villages stretching over a wide plateau above tropical white sandy beaches, breezy bays, luxury resorts and glorious seascapes. |

Mauritius has no well defined wet or dry season and short afternoon showers can be experienced any day of the year. Although a direct hit is very rare, cyclones can occur between the end of November and March. The average temperature in June, July and August is 24°C, rising to 28°C in November and 30°C in January. It can get quite hot from January to March. April to June and September to November are probably the most pleasant times to visit although it can be chilly in the evenings from June to September.
