In general, a perennially sunny climate means that it is a pleasure to visit South Africa at any time of the year. Midwinter is in June/July, and midsummer in December/January. Cape Town and the Garden Route enjoy a mediterranean climate for most of the year but temperatures drop between June/July, and midsummer in December/January. Among areas of outstanding natural
beauty are Mosel Bay, the Wilderness National Park, Knysna, the
Tzitzikamma Forest, Plettenberg, Storms River, the Outeniqua and Montagu
Passes. A sightseeing train travels from George along the scenic coastline
to Knysna.
Well known sightseeing attractions at Oudshoorn include the Cango Caves with their magnificent crystalline rock formations, Ostrich Farms, Cango Angora Farm and Crocodile & Cheetahland. |

Cape Town is the gateway to the picturesque Garden Route stretching from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth. Six miles of golden sand and good surf encourage water sports and from June to December the whales come from the Antarctic to mate and calve and dolphins swim daily in and out of the waves off Look-out beach. |

The coastal route between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth is known as the Garden Route and renowned for its spectacular scenery and breathtaking beauty.
