WHYTELEAFE (1) 2 Nwanze 39, Massey 84.

UXBRIDGE (0) 1 Moore 90.

Uxbridge slipped into the bottom three of division one after another defeat at a wet and windswept Church Road, but really created enough chances to at least have had a share of the points. The Reds dominated the early exchanges and had numerous chances to have taken the lead. Chris Moore was clean through in the 5th minute but a great last ditch tackle from Danny Mason denied him a shooting opportunity. Two minutes later Lee Tunnell charged down Matt Martin's clearance in the Whyteleafe goal. The ball fell kindly to Dean Clark, but Gary Elliott got back to clear the ball off the line. Uxbridge were now controlling the pattern of the game, buoyed by the fine win at Welling the week before, this confidence showed when Tunnell stormed down the left wing past two defenders, his low cross was met my Chris Moore whose powerful shot was blocked, this time by Martin's legs. Midway through the first half Dean Clark fired over from 10 yards, but it seemed to be only a matter of time before the deadlock was broken. The 35th minute provided a sign of things to come as the impressive Alan Hamlet had to clear a well struck corner off the Uxbridge line at the back post. This proved to be nothing more than a temporary reprieve though as four minutes later Whyteleafe took the lead from another corner, this time met by Daniel Nwanze, whose close range header beat Sean Dawson, for the home side to take a slender lead into the half time break.

The second period again started with concerted Uxbridge pressure, good work again by Lee Tunnell on the left wing provided Chris Moore with a shooting opportunity from Just Six yards, but a combination of keeper and defenders saw the ball scrambled away for a corner. Moore again was at the heart of the action on 60 mins when his well directed shot appeared to heading for the bottom corner, but the ball was held up in the saturated goalmouth and Martin was able to pounce on the ball, right on the goal line. Gary Fisher then wasted a good opportunity for the home side blazing over the bar after a good run at the Uxbridge defence. Shots from distance then seemed to be the order of the day with neither keeper being forced into making a save in the later stages of the second half. Jamie Carter returned to the Uxbridge fold on 77 mins, replacing Mark Weedon in bid to find that elusive equalising goal. However that task was made doubly difficult on 84 minutes when Whyteleafe scored a carbon copy of the first goal, a deep corner was swung over and met by Stuart Massey just 6 yards out and he really couldn't miss from there. Uxbridge did finally score in the last minute, when Chris Moore was put through and this time managed to shoot under the advancing keeper. It was certainly a deserved goal but that will provide scant consolation when Uxbridge take a look at that league table.
