Meopta Stereo 35

This one originated in a secondhand camera shop in Prague and along with the Fed was one of my first 'serious' stereo purchases. It takes viewmaster size frames using standard slide format and in spite of its age does a pretty good job. The cutter works well but it has to be said that the cutting and mounting process can be quite lengthy. The results are well worth the effort however, my wife commented that this is her favourite format and "brought the whole thing to life" .

Cost was approx £40 (GBP) which included the cutter. Meopta are still in business and are based in Bratislava in Slovakia (Alas, they no longer manufacture stereo cameras).

Good and Bad Points (depending on your viewpoint)

• Easy to use and has proved reliable so far.
• No focussing required.
• Fixed exposure time of 60ms ('B' setting allows shutter to stay open as long as trigger is depressed).
• Has a standard flash attachment.
• Uses a standard 35mm film.
• People wonder why you have a transistor radio attached to your nose.
