Imagine you had never heard of Robert Silverberg or
Philip K. Dick.
Imagine a writer who can do for Biology what Stephen Baxter can do
for Physics.
Imagine epic voyages to the very edges of meaning and being. Intense
speculations that are the very heart of explorative literature.
Brian Stableford has
been writing Science Fiction since he and a school friend Craig A.
Mackintosh sold Beyond Time's Aegis in the mid 1960s.
His writing has always
subverted the genre, proving provocative and totally unpredictable.
He details weird and
astonishing environments with outstanding clarity; from The Iron River
in Cradle of the Sun, to the incredible climax of Chimera's Cradle.
Often sweeping in scope
- not only in time and space, but also intellectually - Brian's fiction
stretches and enriches his readers as it entertains them. He takes
you from the darkest shadows of Plato's Cave and shows you the limitations
of godlike percipience.
I can think of no writer
whose oeuvre better deserves celebration and feel honoured that Mr.
Stableford has permitted me to dedicate this web site to it.
Ian Braidwood.
