Cyprus 1938-1952
Three years, but only two with requisitions. 1945 saw nothing at all. 7817/1 saw orders for all values from the 41/2pi upwards. Four of the values had quantities put aside for the Bureau (41/2pi - 20,040, 6pi - 10,020, and both the 90pi and £1 with 5,040. The requisition was required early in July 1944, but earlier if possible. Numbering was not required.
In the same year 7856/1/2/3 came out. The first two formed the same order for the 1/4pi, 1/2pi and 11/2pi. 150,000 (1/4pi) and 300,00 (1/2pi), 70,000 (11/2pi), were taken from stock at the Bureau The stock was to be replenished and the remainder of A's stock 1/2pi 300,000 from A2. 300,000 to be exchanged then 150,000 from A2 to colony. Those were the instructions but what they meant exactly is rather confusing.
Part 3, a separate order was for the 3/4pi duty. 320,000 were for the Bureau in exchange. The duty was due 12.4.45, but was despatched two months later.
1945 saw no requisitions.
8013/1 in early 1946 was to commence Delivery in early August 1946, a long waiting period. Again several values had quantities for the Bureau, 3pi (30,000), 9pi (15,000), 45pi (12,000) and 6,000 of the £1 duty. Sheet numbering was not required and they were for exchange.
8168/1 was to reach Cyprus no later than August 1946. 6,000 of 41/2pi and 3,000 of the £1 were for the Bureau.
