Douglas Having always been fairly artistic I started attending craft courses at the National Glass Centre in 2000 to expand my skills and I eventually ended up on a course run by Anne Roxborough. Anne introduced me to the art of glass engraving and after progressing to advanced level suggested I join the Guild of Glass engravers who's assessment for membership I passed in early 2004. Based in the coastal town of Seaham in County Durham I engrave using mostly drill techniques, especially intaglio engraving where a 3D image is cut into the glass to give real depth to the design. Recently I have acquired a sandblaster and kiln to expand on the range of techniques I can use when working with glass. I accept commissions for both engraved and stained glass as well as doing small scale commercial engraving of awards and gifts. I can also be hired via the Glass Shop in the National Glass Centre if you buy something there and want it engraving. |
