The Dunfords of Etchilhampton, Great Cheverell and Potterne
During my research into the Durnford line of descent from All Cannings I got in touch with individuals throughout the world from whom I learnt that one particular line of descent, that of John Durnford (1749) and Sarah Heath at Etchilhampton, had become known as Dunford.
I had ignored the Dunfords during my searches and to confuse things even further some later Dunfords having moved to Potterne at around the time my ancestor John Durnford was the Blacksmith there, were recorded as Durnfords and I had not been able to connect these Potterne Durnfords to the All Cannings line.
I am indebted to Sue Slifko-Gillfillan in Michigan for starting me on the track of the Dunfords and especially to Gail Lawes from Leighton Buzzard, England who has done an immense amount of work on the Durnford/Dunfords and has given me permission to include her Dunford family trees on this site.
