Marieke de Waard currently lives in Singapore.
She was born and raised in New Guinea, now Papua,  a former Dutch colony.
She attended the Tilburg academy of Arts in Holland and obtained a BA in Art.
Marieke was involved in art activities in South Africa and France while raising a family.
After moving to the US,  she got a Masters in Art from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania.
During the years in the US,  Marieke also exhibited and received awards for her artwork.
The art museum in Reading,  Pennsylvania purchased a painting for their permanent collection.
Marieke was also an art instructor at the Glassell Junior School in Houston,  as well as
exhibiting and continuing involvement in art there. Marieke also participated
in the famous cow parade when it was in Houston and her painted cow was included in a book dedicated to the event.
