Autumnal Squeezing Here Again!
Do you have old squeezebox needing a good home?
Do you know of
anything that may be of interest to other squeezers?
Please let us know
and we'll post it up.
Autumnal Squeezing!
Barely a month to go
now! Lot's of interest so far but plenty of room for more!
We shall once more be running workshops for melodeon, piano accordion and english concertina.
Additionally Ed is now offering to come tp your house for 1-2-1 melodeon workshops,
savoing all that driving about in the winter.
Well for you anyway!

Last season's workshops
were a huge success musically, with everyone making great progress. Financially they were
a bit of a disaster,
with the Foundation losing a lot of money. Each workshop has fixed overheads, venue hire,
tutors fees, refreshments etc.
and as the Foundation has no funding to subsidise the workshops, the income each month has
to cover these costs.
So to ensure these costs will be covered (and in line with pretty much every other evening
class in the world!) this year's course fees are to be paid in full in advance.

I could do that up

something else in mind eg a Bandoneon, just ask, we can probably deal with that too! We'll

Old Squeezebox Needing a Home?
We have a small stock
of instruments (11 melodeons and a piano accordion) which are available to folks
through our hire schemes.
Also, through the generosity of the West Country Concertina Players, we have access to
some English Concertinas for the same purpose.
We have also been running Squeezeboxes From Scratch at festivals, a crash course for 11-14
year olds where those who have no access to an instrument can have lessons and the loan of
one for the duration of the festival. It's been a great success and really gives the
parents/guardians a good idea whether their charges interest is serious enough to buy an
instrument.
So far we have been at Sidmouth Folk Week and Chippenham Folk Festival and already have
interest from other festivals for next year.
Donations
Some of the instruments we have
were purchased with a donation from The National Lottery Awards For All Acheme, others
have been kindly donated by well wishers.
With more instruments, we could do more. We could offer more children an opportunity
at festivals but, more especially, with sufficient instruments we could start going into
Devon schools to teach. But we are in the tough (but not unusual position for an arts
body) of having no funds to acquire more instruments.
Sooooo, if you happen to have an old squeezebox (piano accordion, melodeon, concertina or
anything else for that matter!) taking up much needed room,
we'd love to give it a good home. It could all start with an email!
Thank you.
