Converting all your home video tapes to DVD will make them far easier to play
and preserve the quality!!

What are the benefits of conversion?

What will the quality be like?

Video tapes degrade quite quickly giving you horizontal white lines and other interference, getting worse with age. DVD will stay the same even after playing it numerous times!

DVDs have 'chapters' encoded onto the disc, so you will be able to skip through large amounts of the DVD and get to the part you want to view easily and quickly. No need to rewind or fast forward!

The quality of the DVD will depend on the quality of the original video. If copying from Mini DV tape, there will be no noticeable difference at all. If copying from VHS, the quality will not get worse but will also not improve. Similar rules follow for the sound track.

Will it play on my DVD player?

How much fits onto a DVD?

All DVDs are recorded in Region '0' in PAL and will play on most 'set top boxes'. It is more than likely to play if you have a fairly new DVD player. If you are in any doubt that it will play in your machine, send us details of the make and model and we will advise you. If we do not have any knowledge of your DVD player, we can supply (for a deposit), a test DVD which you can try in your own machine.

A DVD can hold up to 2 hours of video. The exact length it can store depends on the content of the video, so it is not possible to tell exactly, until conversion is performed.
