Compton Ridge Miniature Railway (CRMR), sited in approximately 1 acre of private gardens, is a private 5" narrow gauge railway currently under construction and will ultimately consist of a ground level track skirting the perimeter of the gardens and forming an outside single track circuit of 750 feet length. The railway is being landscaped into the gardens to create a scenic journey for both operators and passengers. In areas, true to scale rolling stock, authentic liveries and the use of dwarf trees and other 'scale' plants will hopefully make close up photographs almost indistinguishable from the Manx prototypes on which the railway is based.

A classic Manx station halt with passing loop is being incorporated into the track layout together with a branch loop through the centre of the garden. There will be additional sidings for scale passenger carriages & other rolling stock, locomotive steaming bays, bridge sections and scale buildings. When completed, the total track length will be in the region of 1,200 feet (unless the adjacent property comes up for sale!).
