I
think I'm sticking pretty rigidly to border tradition where eating is concerned,
in that if something looks edible, eat it!.
I know that sometimes mistakes
can be made, but then one learns from those mistakes (usually!!).
Personally I'm quite partial
to the garden and all within it.
Spring is a wonderful time, when the boss and his wife spend a lot of time
'weeding' in the garden. This
seems to entail pulling up plants and throwing them
into a bucket (the strange things they do). I find it great fun trying to,
and usually succeeding in, pulling the weeds out of the bucket and running
off somewhere to eat bits off them. They can be tasty but more often than
not are quite nasty. Still it's great fun having mom chase me to retrieve
the weeds - only for me to go back and snatch them out again.
Sometimes I take them
indoors and leave trails of mud and earth everywhere - this really annoys
them. My older sister is better behaved than I am but I guess she was just
as bad when she was young. She does, however, enjoy her greens and often
stands over particular plants completely demolishing them. This 'green' in
the diet does seem to help when the tummy's a bit upset,
Plastic is another
good chewy material, though not very tasty, and plant pots in particular
are great fun. The knack is to pick them up properly or risk obscuring vision.
