SORRY PEOPLE, BUT EASY WEASEL ARE NOT TAKING ANY MORE BOOKINGS AT THE MOMENT.

JAN AND MARTIN HAVE MOVED AWAY TO NORTH WALES TO RUN A PUB (WITH MUSIC OBVIOUSLY!) WHICH MAKES GETTING TOGETHER A BIT DIFFICULT.

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT - WATCH OUT FOR A WEASEL RE-UNION SOMETIME!

EASY WEASEL are a Ceilidh / Barn Dance band based in the Hertfordshire area, but active all over the Northern Home Counties and beyond. Our aim is to provide lively, quality dance music to have a good time to, using a carefully chosen selection of traditional and self-penned tunes played with energy, enthusiasm, and vitality. Most of the band are keen dancers themselves, and know what's needed to get bodies moving - a good solid rhythm, and interesting but uncomplicated arrangements of the tunes. We do not try to be too clever (we couldn't be even if we wanted to be!), but we are a band who enjoy their music and like to have fun - and we make sure that our participants have fun too. We have an enviable reputation of not taking things too seriously - we do not mind if people go wrong or fall over, as long as they join in. At the same time, we are more than capable of playing to experienced dancers - our caller has literally hundreds of dances in his collection, so can take on most requests. Almost any occasion can be catered for - village dances, fundraisers, company socials, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries - any excuse you like in fact!

In addition to playing for the dancing, the band also has a repertoire of songs and other tunes, that add to an evenings entertainment, and allow dancers to get their breath back!

THE BAND :-

         Steve, Martin, Jan, Howard, Julian

Martin Hallett is the caller for the dances, and plays melodeons. With a great variety of dances in his collection, and a wicked sense of humour, Martin ensures that the event will be entertaining and varied. His powerful melodeon playing drives the music along too. Martin is not noted for the subtlety of his dress sense. Martin is from Yorkshire.

Jan Hurst is the talented multi-instrumentalist, and plays electronic keyboards (far easier to carry than a piano), accordion, recorder, acoustic guitar and Appalachian dulcimer, and also writes some of the bands tunes. Jan is also their excellent singer when they perform songs. Jan also has a Yorkshire ancestry.

Steve Farrar plays mandolins, banjo, bazouki and mandola, and has also been known to recite one of his humorous monologues to startled audiences. Steve is, by common consent, the meanest, tightest, member of the band - he calls it being careful with his money. Steve is also from Yorkshire.

Howard Newton is the man with the beat. He plays the drums and makes all the difference. From a subtle background whisper to a driving, foot-stomping thunder, Howard's distinctive drumming has changed our lives forever. Formerly with the well-known and much-missed Bedfordshire-based band 'Wide-Eyed Jack', Howard is from Scarborough...... in Yorkshire.

Julian Martin holds the whole thing together with the bass guitar. Wonderfully inventive riffs, and a rock-solid rhythm, and years of experience. A rarity in most bands, Julian is a happy, smiling bass-player. Another former member of 'Wide-Eyed Jack'. Julian does not come from Yorkshire.... and is proud of it.

Now in their 11th year the band have a wide range of dances available to suit all abilities and requirements.

For more information on the band, or to book them for your event, please call Martin or Jan on 01525 852903 for a friendly, informal chat, or email us.

"The function was extremely successful, with numerous people informing me that they ached from all the dancing they had done, and all those present thoroughly enjoyed themselves.. an excellent evenings entertainment."

J Dixon, RAF Stanbridge

"Thank you for playing so wonderfully at our wedding. Your enthusiasm was infectious, and even those erstwhile cynics were up and dancing by the end of the evening. It was easily the best part of the day. It's interesting to watch the video because everyone is smiling. "

Mr. & Mrs. Travis, London

"Brilliant, fantastic, whizzo, such good fun, what a brill night! This was all that could be heard from the staff discussing last Friday's party. The evening was deemed as a great success thanks to you and the band. You provided good jolly music, humour and didn't laugh too much at our terrible dancing. Thanks for starting off our Christmas festivities with such a swing."

C Taylor, Potters Bar

"Sincere thanks for providing a wonderful musical evening for us. You were so pleasant and talented, we felt we had made some new friends for you entered into the spirit of the party so well."

"The band's sound is fantastically danceable and is harmonically and melodically rich enough to listen to if you happen to be sitting out a dance."
