INVOCATION OF THE CHAOSURGE

The purpose of this ritual is to draw down the plasma surge which is postulated to strike across the plane of the ecliptic at the moment of a planetary alignment involving the Earth, and to apply the energies focussed by the ritual towards a regenerative effect upon the participants, their magical conclave, and the planet itself.

The final power word of the Enochian invocation, "IADNAMAD", is developed into a repeated mantrum

ee-ah-dah-nah-mah-dah . . ee-ah-dah-nah-mah-dah . .

At this point a circulation or whirling dance by the participants may commence and should be continued until the point of collapse. As each participant falls to the floor the identification "IO CHAOS" is proclaimed, and a free-form utterance follows. This may be oracular or glossolalial in character.

After an appropriate interval the Magister Templi leading the ritual should collect her/his senses sufficiently to effect a loud hand-clap. All participants should then indulge in a hearty banishing rich with exaggerated mirth.

Some concepts are difficult to express directly in the Enochian language due to vocabulary limitations. Although there are words for 'sun', 'moon' and 'stars', there is none for 'planets'. In Line 5, the participant delivering the recitation should compose the appropriate Enochian phrase to describe the alignment taking place, with "AOIVEAE DS ZACRE" (the stars that move) being used as a general descriptive phrase for 'planets'; alternatively an enochianisation of the name of any planet(s) involved might be substituted - thus Venus would be enochianised as "veh-en-oo-ess", or Mars as "em-ar-ess".

There is no word for 'straight', for 'line', for 'alignment', or even for 'point' in Enochian, so the process of an alignment having been made is expressed in Line 6 in terms of the bodies "having framed an empty angle". In geometrical terms this makes some sense, in that as the number of degrees (or radians) forming an angle between two lines is decreased, the lines draw closer together, until, at the point when the angle contains no more degrees (or might be said to be empty), a single superimposed line results - thus in Enochian a 'straight line' is an 'empty angle'.

If the ritual is to be applied to some specific purpose, for example the charging of a sigil or some healing work, an Enochian phrase to express that purpose should be inserted as the penultimate line. The final line of the invocation is borrowed from Dee & Kelly where it occurs as the closing phrase in the 'Call of the 30 Aethyrs'.

It may be useful to tape record the 'discourse of Babel', lest any "undefiled knowledge" be lost to humanity - then again, perhaps not!
