MASS OF CHAOS 'G'
(1990)

The central feature of the Mass of Chaos 'G' is the Invocation of the Celtic underworld deity Gwyn ap Nudd. The ritual has evolved from experiments conducted in Ogof Ffynnon Ddu (an extensive Welsh cave system), and followed up in Forest Row, Sussex, and at Speedwell House, Deptford, between 1975 and 1978.

When properly established with a human 'vehicle' Gwyn can become engaged in lengthy conversations. He is a predominantly masculine entity with active heterosexual inclinations, and very much a God of the Earth. Oracular pronouncements are often markedly 'green', at least in a political sense, but the predominant ritual colours associated with him are the reddish brown of Welsh cave mud and the yellowish white of stalactite. A prominently displayed representation of Ogof Ffynnon Ddu may assist the manifestation if the working is not actually being performed in the vicinity of the cave.

Gwyn ap Nudd has been found to be useful in disclosing information in relation to hidden underground chambers, megalithic sites, ground water, dowsing and all matters relating to Earth Currents.

His traditional mythological attribution as King of the Faerie (Brenin Tylwyth Teg) is reflected in a regal, if impish, bearing. His consort is the Lady of the Lake, as featured in Arthurian legend, and, while consistently chivalrous, he has been known to project this persona onto any female present and conduct himself accordingly with all the presumptuousness of a mediaeval monarch. This personality trait can manifest in a manner which is quite at variance with the everyday demeanour of the operator. Gwyn has custody of the red-eyed Hounds of Hell (the Cwn Annwm) in the Celtic tradition and, on occasion, can be perceived as intimidating by those who summon him to conversation.

Potential operators are advised against taking manifestations of Gwyn too frequently, as involuntary possession has been known to occur. In extreme cases this could result in the exhibition of behaviour which might be regarded as anti-social in a Twentieth Century context.

A sigil associated with Gwyn is a white pyramidal peak surmounted by a bright whitish yellow light. This, co-incidentally, is not dissimilar to the national flag of Tibet, if the snow-lions on that emblem were transposed for Gwyn's dogs. Tibetan magical weapons have been found to be effective for use in ritual work with him.

PROCEDURE:

Construct a circle of art according to custom, with candles at the four quarters.

The 'vehicle of manifestation' should be seated or prone within the circle, oriented towards (or inside) Ogof Fynnon Ddu. A conjuror should take up a position facing the 'vehicle'.

Incense of Pan or Pluto should be burned. Spring water and 'Real Ale' (preferably Felinfoel) are suitable for libation purposes.

Each participant anoints the brow of the 'vehicle' with Oil of Abra-Melin on entering the circle.

Then begins a circulation widdershins, while drumming and/or chanting in discordian style.

GWEN GWYN GWYN .. GWEN GWYN GWYN .. GWEN GWYN GWYN ..

Gestures of evocation enforced with suitable weaponry may be directed towards the 'vehicle' during the circulation.

A tape of random dripping water may be played to accompany the chant.

The 'conjuror' recites and repeats the following invocation with increasing force until a manifestation becomes apparent, stopping only when 'vehicle' proclaims "IO GWYN".

Who holds on leash the Hounds of Hell.
Thee, Thee I invoke;

Who hunts the Wild Boar of Annwm
Thee, Thee I invoke;

Brenin Tylwyth Teg, King of Faerie and the Netherworld
Thee, Thee I invoke;

Who lies in lust and love with the Lady of the Lake;
Thee, Thee I invoke;

Gwen Gwyn Gwyn, Thrice white, Faerie voice of Mother Earth;
Thee, Thee I invoke;

Gwyn ap Nudd, Lord of Annwm, Guardian of Dragon Caves;
Thee, Thee I invoke;

Come hither, Faerie King;

Come hither, Lord of Labyrinths;

Come hither now and speak with us in this Chamber of Chaos;

Enter this willing vehicle prepared for thee;

Thee we welcome, Thee we greet;
Thee, Thee we invoke.

During the circulation and invocation, as the 'vehicle' feels moved, s/he should read or recite from memory the following Enochian passage (see 'Pan Ritual for Fortitude' for notes on Enochian pronounciation). At the climax the 'vehicle' strongly vibrates the ZARZAS formula and proclaims the manifestation IO GWYN three times.

ZARZAS ZARZAS NASATANADA ZARZAS

IO GWYN         \         IO GWYN        \         IO GWYN

The 'conjuror' may present a vessel containing the libation to Gwyn at this point.

From here ANYTHING can happen.

During the manifestation questions can be asked of the 'vehicle' as Gwyn, or some deed or service may be requested. Be aware that Gwyn may require some deed or service in return.

A formal license to depart should be issued to conclude the working; for exampleu-We thank you Gwyn for your presence with us;

Pray leave this mortal base
And attend upon us further should we summon thee.
Leave us now in friendship born of Chaos
Be gone Faerie King
Farewell!

The license to depart may be repeated and re-inforced with pentagrams, aright, banishing, if the manifestation lingers.

Banish with laughter.
