This footbridge provides level access the River Eden and a new footpath which has been created on the dissused trackbed of the Durham and South Lancashire Union Railway (The Stainmore Line).
The site is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and a site of special scientific interest. So great care had to be taken with its design and construction so as not to interfere with the natural environment.
The bridge provides a superb viewpoint for looking down on the river and its impressive rock formations. The bridge is constructed of galvenised steel with a precast concrete deck.
