Billy J. McGregor and Alan Wearmouth
Alan was introduced to Elvis by his Grandma of all people taking him to see The Elvis Documentary and was hooked. As soon as he saw the white jump suited figure perform, he knew this guy was the not only the King of rock and roll, but the King of music and live stage performances. Billy was introduced to Elvis through Television re runs of Elvis Movies. He loved his singing and the obvious way that Elvis loved to perform. They both loved the way that Elvis` versatility allowed him to perform all kinds of music from a slow love ballad to the raunchiest of rock and roll songs. Billy and Alan were at school together and talked of their love of Elvis and his music. Alan was able to bang out a few tunes on his guitar and Billy could sing a bit so they would harmonise and sing a few tunes It wasn't long before they were meeting up regularly after school trying to emulate their idol, the king of rock and roll, Elvis Presley, by playing and singing songs like Blue Suede Shoes, All Shook Up, and Johnny B Goode. They formed a band and rehearsed in the local Y.M.C.A. hall. However as teenagers often do, Billy and Alan went their separate ways touring with their own bands until 1998. They had kept in touch with the odd phone call and occasional drink when back in their home town. It was mid 1998 when on one of those rare occasions they met in a local bar and began talking of the "old days". It was then they agreed that their love of Elvis and his songs had not died they both agreed it was now their turn to pay tribute to the King of Rock and Roll. The roller coaster ride to what is now The Elvis Collection had begun. Billy and Alan auditioned over 150 of some of the finest musicians in the country, narrowed it down to the best 9 and The Elvis Collection was born. Billy and Alan have now performed with their band all over the UK to audiences of all ages and have ended their shows to standing ovations, that in itself is the tribute to Elvis Presley. Billy and Alan will always say; "The Elvis Collection is not a look alike band but a pure tribute to the music of Elvis Presley. We love the audience to join in with us and celebrate the music and the memory of Elvis Presley". & Alan Wearmouth
