Death On A Green Carpet.

Stepping on to the stage in the eighteenth century was a risky business; sliding machinery, trapdoors and dripping oil lamps did their best to put you off your lines, your fellow actors were touchy (and handy with a rapier) the audiences were lively – and of course there was always the dreaded green carpet…
