I would also recommend a visit to the
Galoway Garden
Festival 2004 on the 22nd & 23rd May 2004.
before
Stranraer
off the A75
and the view is lovely.

It has a commanding view over Luce Bay and
Mull of Galloway
The garden is 12 acres and in 1979 was covered in bracken and gorse.
The focal point of the garden centres around two small lochan and
with the warm gulf stream allows the growing of exotic plants, a huge
collection of trees and shrubs including eucalyptus, hollies, rhododendrons
, hydrangeas and many other rare shrubs to flourish amongst this maze
of hilly planting.
It is privately owned and the ground is still being cleared in order to extend the garden for future planting.
It has free parking, dogwalk, but no tree cover if dogs are left in the car, although guide dogs are allowed in the garden. Toilets, plant sales area, restaurant (local produce) and the garden is accessible for wheelchairs with an energetic person, plus there is seating within the garden
