We normally choose where we stay with care, we have been at
Drummore, in the extreme south west
corner of Dumfries and Galloway, in a house in the middle of a forest
near Newton Stewart, at a farm, about
5 miles from
Kirkcudbright, in a flat, on a farm, in
Kirkcowen
and since 2000 at Mark Farm,
Creetown.
We used the farm as a base from which we visited buildings/gardens
/plant nurseries within approximately 100 mile radius.
Other pages give a short summery (& photographs) of the beautiful
places that are to be seen in this lovely part of Scotland but by
no means all.

However, as the farm is now an equestrian centre, in 2000 we stayed at
two new places. First, in a detached bungalow (
Mark Farm (left)) on a hilltop 3 miles from
Creetown and later in the
year in a flat attached to a farm at Kirkcowan
(right).
The farm where we stayed from 1994 to 1999, and
had been made welcome by Mrs Clark, is at
Tarff and Eileen, myself and our
big soft alsatian, Tara, have spent many a wonderful holiday. It is
about 5 miles west of Castle Douglas and
just before Twynholm, where the racing
driver, David Coulthard, was born.
Previous holiday homes, near Drummore
(left) and in the middle of a forest, near Newton Stewart
