This was the year when contributions were 10p a week and cash in bank stood at £265.51 and donations £269.00
A Buffet was held at the Ebbw Vale Sports Club on 2nd of February at a charge of £1.00 per person.
On the 20th May our Annual Concert was given at the Ebbw Vale Leisure Centre the artist being Kenneth Collins.
On the 2nd of June to the 6th. we made our second trip to France. There was an Old Comrades Banquet on the 5th and 13378 French Francs were paid to Monsieur Venturelli to cover the cost of accommodation and the tickets to the Banquet.
The first trip to France was on 17,18 and 19th
September 1976.
This was the occasion when Mr. Jones (Long Lawn)
of blessed memory did battle with the Bidet in the hotel and the Bidet
won, or did it?
The choir this year did concerts at Trellech,Llandridnod Wells , Ross, Whitchurch,the Manor hotel for the Thrombosis Appeal and at Mount Pleasant Church for the Triennial Appeal for Kharjat in Maharashta.
We gave hospitality to the Santa Anna Winds from Canada. A concert at the Leisure centre on 25th August with 107 buffets at the Ebbw Vale Welfare Club,(soup, ham salads and gateaux £165.00).
Mozarts' Lachrymosa was purchased and two coaches at a cost of £40 took the choir to Merthyr on October 15th.
At the Hope Methodist Church Merthyr Tydfil we
sang Mass in D Minor in the first half and Battle Hymn, Soon Ah Will be
Done, Close Thine Eyes,
Evenings' Pastoral' , The Lord's Prayer, Lily
of the Valley, Deus Salutis and Laudamus in the second half.
Our Repertoire also included at that time Slaves
Chorus, Gypsy Chorus, Riff Song, Moab, Gwenyth Gwyn and Daffyd y Garreg
Wen.
Last but not least we gave a little performance
for Lady Thatcher at the Liesure Centre.
Brian Crowle collected and sold 1,750 kilos of
waste paper for £31.50.
The number of Choristers on the books numbered 86.and year closed with a bank balance of £1029.04.
Mr. Bert Norris passed away.
And the tune on every bodies lips "If I Was A Rich Man"
