THE YEAR 1979

On the 10th of December the Annual Dinner was held at the Ex-servicemens Club with 100 guests .

The first order for the blue uniforms was placed and confirmation received from The City Warehousemen that they would be ready for our Annual Concert on the 2nd June.
The cost of the full uniform including bow tie blue shirt and cummerbund was £55.00. Members contribution amounted to £20.00 per chorister.
A few choristers paid in full and were reimbursed later; John Routley,I Porter, W.Lewis, R.Jones, G.Whitecombe, R.Evans, H.Morgan, D.Burrows, D.McCarthy, L.Clark, G.Cox and H.Vaughan.

Some members were classed as specials not because they were any better looking than anyone else in the choir but because of their unusual size, shape or physical stature or lack of it.
W.Dance, G.Williams, S.England, I. Porter, D.Burrows, M.Downes , J.Holden, B.E.Davies and W.Brown.

Our Annual Concert was held on the 2nd June.
The artists were Kenneth Bowen and Miriam Bowen and the performance was conducted by Alcwyn Savage with the accompanist May Parry.

About this time Mr. Brian Crowle did a sponsored walk from Hereford to Canolfan Canu and raised £438.33 for choir funds.

A donation was received from the Ladies for £251.70

Guess who played the piano. Yes, it was good old Brian Davies.

At Ross we sang:-Crossing the Plains, Soon Ah Will Be Done, My Lord What A Morning,Love Could I Only Tell Thee, Going Home, If I Were A Rich Man
and Havana Nagela.

Santa Anna Winds again and the Guelph University Choir

Purchased:- Kedron,Hide Not Thy Face and Jonah.

The Year ended with £2242.79 in the bank and the lower floor had just been decorated by Mr. John Dobbs assisted by Mr. John Jones.
