These are photos of the new yellow kirtle taken at the Easter event at Kentwell. There's a full write-up of the kirtle's construction here. I'm working pretty hard in all of these, cooking over open fires, and so am looking rather scruffy. As well as the kirtle I'm wearing a shift, a petticoat, an apron, a partlet, a pair of sleeves, a coif and a wool cap. Yes, it was cold. The sleeves are tied with a braid I made from some natural-dyed silk. My shoes and belt are both veg-tanned leather; the belt buckle is an original fifteenth century one. From my belt hang two knives, a bone rosary and a leather belt pouch. There's a cross carved from hawthorn around my neck, and a pewter pilgrim badge and three cock feathers in my hat.
