HOe modular project

No name yet for this latest project..

For a long time I've had a plan in my head for  a long thin shelf layout on our landing, using 009 / HOe stock. Little people who play with vigour on that landing has put that particular plan on hold, but the thinking led me to planning and starting this project.

The idea is to have two small terminii, with at least one module in between.. with the option of adding more as and when. I didn't get on too well with 009 the first time but thought I'd try again, sticking with a vaguely flat North German feel and available RTR HOe stock.  As usual, some items are ebay bargains.. but the track is all new PECO 009, with really excellent fine limestone ballast from GeeDee in Nottingham. I ordered the two Auhagen station kits from International Models. Ideally I want to get lighting in the buildings, and the wiring is keeping that in mind.

Each module is 20cm x  60cm (actually 66cm, the width of a sheet of MDF), with no backscene.. being operable and to be viewed from all around. They are joined with coach bolts and electrically connected using DIN switches soldered up. (My soldering is rubbish.. although I did make the swing in the garden with wire, using my soldering iron as though I knew what I was doing!)

The square building at Friedrichsdorf is an HO cheapie from ebay out of the bits box, which is probably going to be a cycle hire shop..or a taxi firm..
Until I work out how to support the layout beyond the dining table.. the only other module I'm likely to build next is a U shaped one to insert in the centre.
