hogg & co.

This is where it started.. the first one I built after seeing Carl Arendt's micro layouts site, inspired by, but not based on any of the plans there..

I used an old 3 foot shelf as the board, glued down some gravel sheet from my local model shop and used some bits of really old Hornby track from my loft. The factory buildings are all built out of cardboard packaging material. I sourced various free pictures from the internet and even made my own 'brick paper', then glued it all on to the cardboard. The operation here is purely for my son Fred's benefit.

Basically the resident loco (usually this old Hornby tank), moves in from A to collect a wagon from B. It then pulls the wagon under the hopper/chute at C, where Fred gently (!) tips a cup of rice in to fill the wagon. The loco then pushes the wagon over to the 'Out' shed at D. This is where I take out the wagon, fill the cup and pop the wagon back into B to start again. Good simple cheap fun. I aim to relay the track pretty soon, with something new , probably use electrofrog points and add some levers or motors to operate the points.

Filled up - a lot less spillage than in usual operation!

And delivering to the Outgoing shed...
