Art for All

|Home| |Timetable|

The Art for All Group have had a very successful year, with attendance reaching 25 people at some sessions, with an average attendance of fifteen. We have covered the different tools and materials needed for water colour, acrylic, charcoal, pen and pencil mediums, and the subject matter using them has challenged us all.
To discover why so many were drawn(!) to Art for All, the members were asked their opinion of the sessions. The overall impression from their responses was, that everyone enjoyed the friendly relaxed atmosphere which encouraged them to do their best. All said that Graham was to be congratulated and thanked for the amount of preparation work he puts into each session. They appreciated the fact that Graham doesn't judge, rather encourages everyone by seeing the best in their work. His presentations are very enlightening, showing us techniques and different mediums with which we can then practise. Personally I can see the improvement I have made over the past year, and it has inspired me to do more when I have spare moments (It's better than watching television!).
We also had the help of Pat at some sessions, who gave us hints and different points of view to bring to our artwork, which was very enlightening, and we thank her for her time and encouragement.
Graham has suggested that when we start again we should split into two groups, intermediate and beginners, with the intermediate group starting earlier so that they are underway before the beginners arrive, thus giving Graham smaller groups to attend to. Everyone has wholeheartedly agreed with this idea, and can't wait for Autumn term to start.
Our season ends with an outdoor painting day at Grappenhall Heys walled garden, on 30th July. A beautiful setting which should produce some inspired work. So to sum up, we have all benefited and improved by attending Art for All, have made many new friends along the way, and enthusiastically look forward to the new season. We also hope others will be inspired to join us.
Our meetings will continue to be held on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month, starting on Thursday September 10th, at the Friends' Meeting House.
Report by Angela Fauvel

As co-ordinating tutor for Art for All, I would like to express my thanks to all those who attended the course over the last twelve months. We have had a very interesting time and have developed many skills between us. Especial thanks to the Group Secretary, Angela Fauvel, and to those who constantly help with tea, coffee, and clearing up at the end of the sessions. We meet again on 10th September; please remember the enrolling session on September 2nd when information will be available about the coming year.
