Singing for Pleasure

|Home| |Timetable|

So many people tell me "I used to enjoy singing, but I can't sing nowadays. My response is always the same: come along to our Group, and just "Sing for Pleasure". As we get older, our voices do change - no longer can we hit that top doh, hold a note for a couple of bars, sing as fast as in our youth; but that's no reason to deprive yourself of something you enjoy! The Roman dramatist and teacher Seneca once said - "It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare: it is because we do not dare that things are difficult". I interpret that as meaning "Have ago! Surprise yourself."
I'm glad to say that over the past year, about a dozen people have taken this advice, and our group register now has 34 names, although not all of them attend every session. That's just as well, as our old meeting place, the Lounge at Bold St, couldn't accommodate us all.
So we are going to try using the Hall in Bold St. for our sessions; this is possible because the BRIDGE GROUP, who meet in room 2A off the Hall at the same time as us, have agreed to try out the arrangement in the hope that our melodic output won't disturb their cogitations too much. I am very grateful for their co-operation, and hopefully the arrangemerrts will work out well for both groups.
Our first meeting of the new season will be on September 8th, at 10.303m, then on 22nd September - i.e. on the SECOND and FOURTH Tuesdays of the month, and so on throughout the year, unless arranged otherwise. Please ring me or speak to me if you wish to join us.
