Visit boards below or Scroll down for chatbox
Here we have the interactive discussion boards and below is explained the live chat. You can post messages and follow threads or leave your email etc. The discussion boards at Inside the Web are pretty good I think; Versatile, large, and you can also post pictures using the command < img src="URL" > as well as links using <a href="URL" > My link description < /a >. The URL in each case is the valid web address of a picture or a webpage (the thingy that begins with http://), and you do need to enclose it in double quotes as shown or it wont work. However, Inside the Web do ask that these boards are not used for porn and bad language or things of a very sexual nature. Sensible adult discussion is fine and this may include expression of sexual feelings, but we all know there is a difference between that and gratuitous porn and use of 4 letter words etc. So if you want to do that sort of thing, take it to email - not on the board, or the board will get taken off. They're not my rules, but then I dont serve this board :-)

Clean chat please. This is not a porn site
To use a simple command line style chat interface, log in from the Java box below when it has loaded. However, if your browser doesn't support Java, you can't use this chat. Do /help when in the chat to see the commands available to you. Use this chat if you just want a simple text interface and aren't too worried about posting or seeing pics.
However, some of you may be from feet and shoes chat or be regular chatters here. If this is the case, and you want more commands available, go to http://www.spinchat.com/ for the full feature option. When the log in window appears, login using the name you want . You may be asked if you want to register your name, but if you dont, select the chat rooms smiley icon in the left hand frame, otherwise register and then click on the smiley. You will get a window showing you the channels. You may have to select the show "ALL" channels option from the pull down menu menu as it often starts off with just the permanent ones, or select "international" and "user rooms" from the pull down menus. You may need to scroll down the channel list to see it. It is usually near the top cos it begins with a "*" and the ASCII thingy wotsit is low for a "*". Ask hhl(m) and he will tell you all about it! If the room is running, then highlight it and put it in the join box and press join. If the room is not running, create it by putting *Jenny@http//come.to/high-heels* in the join box and pressing join. Anyone coming from the box below will then join you automatically. Be sure to copy the title of the room exactly (use the copy and paste facility in Windows - highlight the text between and including the stars and then ctrl C to copy it and ctrl V to paste it). If you create a similar named room, you will end up in that room OK, but you will not be joined by the other HH chat fans - who will be "streaming"(!) into the correctly named room. Of course, other people on server 1 may see the room name and decide to join anyway, but you need a bit of luck for that.
In the "Royal chat" interface, you can post pictures. Just put the URL of a pic in the chat eg http://freespace.virginnet.co.uk/jenny.netgroup/leeyanim.gif You dont need the HTML tags like in "feet and shoes chat". When the URL comes out in the chat it will be blue and if any other chatter clicks on it, a browser window opens up for them with the pic in it - or they can choose not to open the pic - so in that respect its better than "feet and shoes chat" as the pics dont clog the channel - they are in a separate window with the URL of the pic displayed for you.
On the fully featured interface, you can also have private conversations with other chatters in a separate window, a bit like IRC. Just click on their name in the room menu to highlight it and then select "start dialogue" from the menu at the top. A private window opens up and you dont need to use a privately whispers command or a /msg command every time you want to speak to them. Just type in your special window. Click on the window to make it "active" or use the _ and x to minimise/close it just like you would in W95/98/NT. You can have several windows open at the same time with different private conversations in.
You can also set up your own chat rooms eg Boot room etc in either interface. Try doing /help in either interface to find out more commands that are available. Its actually a much more sophisticated chat interface than it might seem. Thanks to SPiN GmbH for providing it - they also do much more advanced business/conferencing systems - check out their homepage. Good luck and happy chatting !
The above window is only recommended for beginners. It also seeems to get messed up by scrolling a bit and you have to post to refresh it. If you want to see pictures and have advanced commands or private dialogue boxes then use the windows based Fully featured interface using the instructions on the first part of this page. Private messages and indirect viewing of pictures can be done in the above window, but it's more difficult. Try /help to see what commands you can do.
