Jenny writes: There's lots of images on this page, mostly thumbnails, but be patient while they download! Here are some examples of what I would consider nice looks for men's fashion with high heels. At the risk of sounding boring, take off those blinkers, as I would try to do when looking at anything new or an artform that I had not seen before. For our first foray into the aesthetics of this genre, I invite you to compare the three pics above and complete the quizlet below to say which you like best, or all, or none at all. You can't enlarge these particular pics - they are side by side for comparison only.
(Note for browsers not displaying Java script or if the quiz is down: The on-line quiz asks which picture you prefer.Options are: No1 /No2 /No3 /All of them are nice /All of them are rubbish. You can then view the results on line. Last time I looked, pics 1 and 3 were the favoured answers, with 3 a clear leader)
In this example, both of which pictures can be enlarged, we see the effect of wearing high or low turn ups to produces a more muted or ostentatious look. The boots are teamed up with a long coat of classic elegance and simplicity. I think if you take care with these outfits, you can create a real fashion statement.

Here we see some examples of following Gothic fashions in which pretty well anything goes to produce an individual, new, or alternative look. Gothic males never had any worries about wearing high heels or whatever - they do as they please to dress how they want which is a nice philosophy to follow. The centre look is more feminine, while the others utilise more masculine accesories to produce a solid almost clerical feel, but nevertheless with 4+" heels. If you want to obtain any of these fashions, they are from the English, Gothic clothing suppliers, Black Rose. The shoes are however, Jenny's creations.

Firefox writes: Following on from what Jenny has done here I'd like to offer my own pictures. The first few are taken from real life meetngs at the Lakeside shopping centre in Essex, near London , England. Quite often a few of us meet up there. We just like checking out the shoe shops, looking at the latest fashions, and go for a drink afterwards. You are welcome to join us if you are in the area. We usually post details on the message board about when we are going to meet. It's often the third Saturday of the month. Although we are all happy about wearing heels in public, and usually turn up in them, there's nothing that says you must, and we'd be pleased to see you anyway. I'd have to say it's a friends/fashion group not a "contact" circle as we're generally all het or with wives/girlfriends.
In the set above you can see, from 18 November 2000, Jon, Xaphod, and Jon's lovely wife Ruth, who often joins us. You can enlarge these pictures by clicking on them in time honoured fashion. You might notice, if you are nervous about wearing heels in public, that in picture 1, everyone else is very much minding their own business, even though I was drawing attention by taking flash photos on this occasion. I promise I was there as well, but I was behind the camera. You can see me on the "Meet Firefox" page.
Rock stars never had a problem wearing what they wanted. Here's a fine collection which shows different styles from the outrageous to the artistic. 3 pics are from Prince, 1 of Mothley Crue, and 1 of Sigue Sigue Sputnick. These pictures are from the web and were sent to me by Highluc from Belgium. He has a great website at http://walk.to/highluc which you can also find on the linkspage.
These pictures are from Luis Emilio and I thought they were pretty cool. Luis presents these pictures in a beautiful surreal style, and they would not look out of place in a gallery of Contemporary art. Nevertheless, notice how Louis posesses a slim frame with which the spiky boots fit well. It's horses for courses, and these boots would not go well with everyone (me for example!). Wear what you want in the bedroom, but care is needed to coordinate your look for outside.
Here's a quick fashion shoot at my place with my mate, Xaphod, who models both block heels, and triangular stiletto heels from Sasha to good effect. Both of these boot heels are nearly 5" high and I have seen Xaphod wear these out and about around the UK with style. Xaphod is size 6 UK or size 39 EUR which means he can wear off the shelf styles.
These pictures are all of guys from real life, from USA. They're mostly married with normal social lives, and just wear heels as a matter of course, mostly in day to day life. You can see Brandy, Phil, Andrew (Heeled Boot Guy), and Charlie here. You can also discuss things with these guys as many of them post on the messageboard. They've developed their own styles, so there's no reason why you shouldn't as well. Notice how although the looks are quite different, they are all smart and coordinated. Take care and you won't go far wrong!
Some people sent me photographs of their shoes, so I include those here. I'd like to stick to personal shots of shoes that have been modified or have a story to tell about them, not just standard illustrations from Steve Madden or Payless. The photos should open up in a new window when you click on the picture.
