Why and how, when and where?
Why?... well, heels have been worn by guys in history in many periods, it's only a social/cultural thing they don't at the moment. Its all in my history section at Jenny's High Stiletto Heels Page so I don't propose to repeat all that here - look up the site if you are interested. Also the same for how to wear. There's loads of info on successful wearing techniques for high heels on Jenny's High Stiletto Heels Page. Some bits of men and women are different, but feetsies certainly aren't, and men are probably better placed to wear high heels as they have stronger muscles in their legs. That's a fact which can't be disputed.

As to the other reasons why: they are sexy (covered that one on my other site as well!), they make you taller (not usually so important for guys), they make can you confident (could be useful), and they can be damn satisfying to walk in for gals and guys (I suppose that's a milder version of the sexy thing). Lastly, they are an interesting fashion accessory - more of that from a man's point of view in my fashion section on this site.

Men often wear them at Halloween, the Rocky Horror Picture Show (I always wondered why that was so popular!), in BDSM or other sexual role play, or just around the house indoors, out of public view. However, I am discounting all these instances in the following paragraphs' discussion, where I am referring to wearing high heels in full view of other people during general day to day activities.

When and where in normal life poses a few interesting questions. Most of the guys that have mailed me or written on my main discusion board tend to say that they wear them socially only. For example, going out shoppping, or for a meal in a restaurant etc. I suppose this is because there is still enough opposition among more narrow minded people and clients in the workplace, and if this means upsetting a boss or a client, then it isn't worth it. I would see that as an infringement of someone's liberties and a cause for change. You must understand, that I would say that even though I don't think high heels look particulary good on men most of the time.

However, its not my (or indeed anyone else's) personal opinion, but the freedom of the individual, that should be overriding factor. If people tried to remember that the next time they try to condemn someone or impose their will over something of little consequence, then the world would be a much better place. (PS, Chaps - if you do wear heels and someone tries to take the piss 'cos you are trying out a different fashion experience, tell them to grow up, get a life, and point them in the direction of this website to open their horizons a little: http://heels.cjb.net - N'oubliez pas de se souvenir celui-ci, n'est-ce pas?!)

I am probably going to upset some people now, but the following is just my personal opinion, and I still wouldn't disapprove of someone for breaking these guidelines. Basically, I think guys usually look much better wearing heels if they are shortish, light and reasonably slim. What do I mean by that? Under 5'9" (175cm), under 150lbs (11st or 70kg), and body mass index less than 23 {Body mass index=(Weight in Kg)/(height in m)squared and should be between 20 and 25 for a healthy person}. If you are largish and fancy wearing heels then lose some weight - you will look better I guarantee! For someone 6 foot tall, that would be a min weight of 67 kg (ie 6ft = 1.83m --> 1.83x1.83=3.35 --> 3.35x20=67kg ). So you can see, even someone 6ft can do it and just break my height rule. Don't let your body mass index go less than 20 though - that is dangerous and unhealthy. And if you are 6ft - do you really want to add another 2 or 3 inches?

The fact is most guys don't meet these guidlines. So, most guys, sorry; I don't think heels are for you. It's nothing to do with gender - I think a 15st 200lb women in stilettos looks naff as well. I only look at it from the viewpoint of my personal aesthetics, so don't bother emailing me and trying to argue it out - we won't get anywhere. I'm not saying you can't, or you shouldn't. I just reckon it doesn't look so good.
