Fritha 'The Salsa Diva!' Fallon |
Fritha Fallon is the Artistic Director of The Salsa Diversion Dance Company. She
has a range of qualifications including, BA (Hons) Dance in Society
gained at the University of Surrey, and Specialist Diploma: Teaching
Studies (Dance) at the Laban Centre London. She has been working as a
choreographer and teacher for several years, based in Surrey. Prior to
setting up this company she trained in Africa and Cuba, and with top
Salsa dancers from New York and L.A. She specialises in Salsa,
Contemporary and Street dance styles and enjoys combining them to make
imaginative and original work. Fritha has experience of teaching in a
broad range of contexts. She particularly enjoys community dance work
which integrates people with special needs, and teaching Salsa in a
relaxed and fun environment. Fritha appeared on the TV programmes Cyber
Café and GMTV, and came third in the professional category of
the Scalalatina Salsa Championship in 2002. She also performs with the
Manhattan Mambo Dancers.

James
Costello |
Jim Costello is a founder member of Salsa Diversion Dance Company. He has
been dancing and teaching Salsa for a number of years. Prior to taking
up Salsa dancing, Jim trained in the Martial Arts and also appeared on
stage in Musicals, Tap dancing shows and plays. He has trained in Cuba
with Omi Arabbi Dance Company and has performed Salsa on TV for Cyber
Café and GMTV. Jim also performs with the Manhattan Mambo
Dancers. He came third in the professional category of the Scalalatina
Salsa Championship in 2002. Jim excels in developing intricate partner
work and has invaluably contributed to the choreography for The Salsa Diversion
Dance Company. He is also rapidly gaining a reputation as a skilled
teacher of advanced level Salsa.

Annmarie Hosell |
Annmarie Hosell joined Salsa Diversion Dance Company in February 2003.
Originally from Hull, she has spent the last three years training at
the Guildford School of Acting in Surrey and has recently graduated
with a Drama degree. She trained in various forms of dance from a young
age, and continues to compete, in Ballroom and Latin American dance.
She has also studied Tap, Jazz, Street, Contemporary, Ballet and
National dance. Annmarie has performed in Italy, Germany and various
parts of the UK. She also has experience of teaching English, Drama and
Dance and has choreographed for Jazz Troupes and Musical Theatre. She
is thrilled to be learning Salsa with the company and is eager to
perform as much as possible.

Gary
Young |
|
Gary Young joined Salsa Diversion Dance Company in October 2002. He is one
of the UK’s top Salsa professionals who teaches a wide variety of
students ranging from the nervous beginner to the die-hard salsero. He
has trained in Street Jazz the Martial Arts Wu Chu Kwan and Wing Chun
and has over 8 years experience of dancing salsa. He has been a guest
instructor at Salsa festivals including Dublin (2002) and Paris (2000).
In 1998 he was a European Salsa Championship finalist and starred in a
Channel 4 documentary on Salsa. He has also appeared on Breakfast TV
(1999), in a BBC Human Instinct Programme (2002) and the film Carmella
(2001). In addition to Salsa, Gary Young has a broad spectrum of skills
and interests, including health, yoga and physical fitness. He is also
a Neurolinguistic Programmer and uses these skills extensively in his
profession.

Katerina Siganou |

Katerina Siganou joined Salsa Diversion Dance Company in February 2003. She
is has a degree in Dance and Culture from the University of Surrey. She
began her dance training at a young age in Athens. She studied the ‘Orf
Musicocinetic System’ which helped her develop her sense of rhythm and
musicality. She has A Levels in Performing Arts, Music and Dance.
She has also trained in a variety of dance styles including Ballroom,
Contemporary, Ballet, Kathak and African/Caribbean. Katerina is
enjoying learning Salsa for the first time with Salsa Diversion Dance
Company. She plans to continue her studies by taking a Post-graduate
course in Performance.

Laura Robinson |

Laura Robinson
joined Salsa Diversion Dance Company in February 2003. She has been dancing
since the age of three, and has studied Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz,
Street, Contemporary, Salsa, and Kathak. Her theatre credits include
‘Sweet Charity’, ‘Cabaret’ (Sally Bowles and Chorus), ‘Fame’, and a
variety of Pantomimes. She is currently a dance student at the
University of Surrey, and is about to undertake her professional
placement year. She is also choreographer for the University’s Music
and Drama society. Laura learnt Salsa from Fritha through the
Campusdance programme at the University of Surrey. She is extremely
enthusiastic about dancing and teaching with Salsa Diversion Dance Company.
In the future, she hopes to gain more experience in Salsa and to teach
dance at A Level standard.
