Below is the OS map of the area in question.
I have superimposed the aerial
photo on to the map, rotating and distorting it slightly so try and
allow for the angle the photo was taken from. I have tried to line up the
roads and the position of Stonehenge
to lie over their respective points on the aerial photo.

You can clearly see from this that
the Julia Set crop circle sits between
the 95 metre and 90 metre
contour lines. Anyone with a small amount of knowledge of
contour lines on maps can easily see that the Julia Set formation is on the
DOWNWARD
slope of the valley AWAY from Stonehenge. The Valley then FALLS another 10
metres
to 80 metres before starting to rise to the sumit where the Tumuli are situated.
So to sum up:
Stone henge is between the 105 metre and 100 metre contours
The Julia Set Formation is between the 95 metre and 90 metre contours
The Valley falls to 80 metres before starting to rise again
The Formation is approx 10 metres (30 feet) BELOW Stonehenge.
Between Stonehenge and the formation is the A303.
CK's photos show the far side of the field where it rises up the far side
of the valley.
The Near side of the field CAN NOT BE SEEN from Stonehenge.
The Julia Set lies well within the near side of the field on the DOWNWARD
SLOPE.
See below for an OS map of a slightly wider area to get some perspective of the area we are discussing.
Durrrr!!!!!

THE POSITIONING OF THE 1996 JULIA SET
The red dot defines the position of the crop formation
The thick black line, defines the bottom of the valley.
It can be clearly seen that the formation was positioned on the DOWNWARD SLOPE of the valley.
Approx. 9 metres Below Stonehenge and approx 250 metres away
Sloping away from stonehenge and therefore making it very difficult if not impossible to see the formation
for anyone standing at Stonehenge.
This is why NO PHOTO's of the formation were taken from that position
