The dialout server from the Alt+Connect package.
The (serial) port that will be used to connect to a provider; or the physical connection between the server and the provider.
In windows parlance a "dialup connection". Normally its one your ISPs--except it needn't be an Internet Server Provider, it could your office or a client's private network: any sort of connection provider.
Unlike windows connectd sees the provider as independant of the serial port and modem used.
A network connection between two programs, normally on different machines; e.g. wconnect and connectd, or a browser and a web server. Your network can have multiple network connections at once. TCP is the protocol used (Transmission Control Protocol) and I just talk about TCP-connections to distinguish then from the "dialup connection" two modems have over a phoneline.
A "permission", "right" or "privilege".
