Here you will find some ways of praying. There are many ways of praying. We pray as we can and not as we cannot. 'Lord give me a heart able to receive what you long to give me!' is prayer that helps us remember it is less what we do than what we allow to be done in us. We are drawn to pray in different ways on different occasions. We pray vocally or mentally; meditatively or contemplatively. Therese of Lisieux asked whether she talked to Jesus, replied: 'No. I love him.' Some ways we learn from others by praying together in our Sunday worship. These ways are on this site called CHURCH WAYS. Some ways we find out for ourselves - we go for ways that suit us just we find out and go for the food that suits us. We make these ways of praying into our own ways of praying. They become my way of praying. Here on this site these ways are called MY WAYS. Some ways of praying were found useful by St Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556), Founder of the Jesuits. I am Gerald FitzGibbon, a British Jesuit, and I found these ways useful too. Some of his ways are mentioned here under the heading IGNATIAN WAYS Ignatius organized his way into a dynamic progression like rungs of a ladder - one way prepares for and gives access to the next. One of these rungs is referred to under the heading 15 MINUTES PRAYING For further information please click Gerald FitzGibbon
