Music

I came to music later then most... During my childhood I was subjected to the likes of Max Bygraves "Sing along a war years" thanks to my father. For some reason I took little interest in the music my Mum was listening - which was in retrospect was a little tragic.

Escaping into the real world of employment meant for the first time I was able to purchase music - money previously being spent on other things. I enjoy mainstream rock and I guess pop music but possibly through the sounds of groups like Basement Jaxx I'm most interested in house (?) music. The gift of a record deck a few singles set the ball rolling and now it's probably my one of my most important interests.

Obviously I came to house music through what I guess is called "commercial house" but record labels like Defected have encouraged my passion to mature to a mix of soulful and funky house. I'm a bit of a slut when it comes to purchases though and I really do buy whatever takes my fancy.

I would like to thank Mike McGowan and Goey of Soundz in Torquay for their enthusiasm and more recently Rachel and Mike of BangBang Records in Bristol. I find these small record shops stimulating places and you can't beat them for people who know what they're talking about. Could you ever get that kind of service from the likes of HMV or Virgin?

Anyway... I've started to list my vinyl collection on this site. So far I've many focus on the more commercial stuff as they look a bit more visually appealing on the page. Not that white labels aren't sexy!
