THE LOCATION

 

Bedar is in the south west of Spain, in Andalucia, which is a beautiful and historic place to visit.

Although the village of Bedar is in a rural area, it has 3 bars, 4 restaurants, a chemist, a bank, and local shops.

 

The villa is on the outskirts of the village, a short drive or a 15 minute walk.  It is ideally situated for exploring

a beautiful and unspoilt rural area of Spain, including Granada, Almeria and Murcia.

 

Mojacar, Vera and Garrucha are large, popular towns on the coast about 15 minutes drive away, with many

amenities, including supermarkets, bars and restaurants, and regular large outdoor markets.

 

A car is essential and can be cheaply rented upon arrival at the airport or booked in advance.

 

Other activities nearby include:
  • 4 top class golf courses
  • outdoor activities: walking tours, bowling, go-karting, a waterpark, and horse-riding.
  • The film-set at Tabernas was used for The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and is now open as a fun tourist attraction.
  • Skiing is available in the Sierra Nevada, about 2 hoursŐ drive away.
  • Day trips are also possible to the Cabo de Gata national park.
  • Both Almeria and Granada have impressive Moorish forts (the Alhambra) and grand cathedrals.

 

HOW TO GET HERE

 

Almeria airport is approximately 45 minutes drive from the villa.  Alicante and Murcia airports are approximately

1.5 hours drive from the villa.  All of these journeys are by motorway.
