MUSIC AND DJING
This is one of my biggest interests, and living very near to the self proclaimed clubbing capital of the south.... Bournemouth! there really is no excuse not to be interested in DJing.
My interest started about 4 years ago at Kings School Bruton where I was first interested in Dance music. Since then, I have been interested in many different musical genres which have varied from UK Garage (2 step and 4/4) to Psychadelic trance.
At present I am interested in many different genres including Hard house and US garage. But basically, I like to DJ all sorts of different styles although quite a bit of practice is usually required when changing from one style to another.
I find that generally music with a higher BPM such as hard house and psychadelic trance are easier to mix that slow stuff like house and US garage. I don't know quite why this is, but it could be that the differences in speeds are easier for the brain to distinguish when the beat interval time is less. Anyone got any ideas about this, e-mail me.
Sadly, I have never been able to afford any decks. I just can't seem to get the cash together! I would be perfectly happy with a 10 year old set of SL1200's, because they just don't wear out. In terms of mixer, I quite like the Numark DM2002X, but a lot of the Vestax stuff is excellent as well.
Living on the south coast of England, near to Bournemouth means that I can listen to my local dance music radio station, 'FM107.6 The Fire' You can check out their website at: www.clickfire.net
