OVERVIEW

Bishop’s Stortford is an historic market town situated in the county of Hertfordshire, UK. The population currently stands at approximately 34,000. Stortford has undergone a dramatic increase in size over the last 20 years, with the number of houses in the town increasing by more than 65%. Yet more development is being proposed, despite the fact that it is unnecessary and is being targetted unfairly on Bishop’s Stortford. Only strong and active opposition will halt Stortford’s headlong expansion and prevent the town’s roads and amenities from becoming further overburdened.

Local residents’ associations, the Civic Society and other groups in the town formed a campaign committee to fight this development. The CAUSE committee includes members of local residents’ associations, local councillors and concerned citizens.

The aim of CAUSE is to prevent any further large-scale housing development having an adverse impact on the town of Bishop’s Stortford.
