I have a varied taste in music - not quite the "I like both sorts of music - Country & Western" (Name the film that quote is from).
At the moment I'm waiting for Roddy Frame to release his next album, hopefully it'll be around in early 2006. He's the brilliant voice behind Aztec Camera, and has released a couple of solo albums.
I also like KT Tunstall, and can recommend her album "Eye to the Telescope". Radio 2 seems to like her as well.
I like a lot of the late 70s/early 80s punk/rock groups like The Jam, The Vapors (managed by Paul Weller's dad), XTC, The Clash, The Skids, Big Country etc.
There are a large number of Scottish groups that spring to mind as being good. I've seen Big Country in concert a few times, and they were brilliant, so I was really sad when I heard that Stuart Adamson had died a few years ago. He had a really good bond with he audience whenever I saw them. Runrig are another really good Scottish band, even though they've now got a Canadian singer. Del Amitri are another excellent band. Both bands were also brilliant when I saw them in concert.
Other good concerts have been Marillion (1985), Magnum, Space (1994), The Damned, Juliet Turner (wonderful acoustic concert with good support from Johnson House's lead singer and Duke Special). I've seen Bryan Adams a few times, one concert at the now defunct Queen's Hall in Leeds. Why they had to make the venue into a carpark is beyond me. Next thing we know, they'll be pulling Wembley Stadium down!
Here are some links to some of the websites of some of my favourite groups at the moment. It's not an exhaustive list, so just because a website isn't there, doesn't mean I don't like the band.
