Geoff & Michaela live in Penwith , Cornwall and have recently
returned from a year in British Columbia -Canada.Their music is
primarily acoustic and draws on a variety of influences
`...After years of playing in bands we were inspired to concentrate
on our duo work after hearing Waterson Carthy and Martin Simpson
all in the same week at the St Ives September Festival .We realised
what wonderful communicators these musicians were and how they had
a minimum reliance on technology... .Michaela has been
writing songs for many years and plays a Morgan Concert mahogany
guitar made in Vancouver B.C.
Thanks are due to the following extremely talented
musicians:Keith Marshall Drums and percussion and Julian Berry who
played Bass guitar both based in Cornwall.Whilst we were in Canada
we couldn`t have survived without Eugene Smith and his family. Eugene
: Percussion and scary Yukon Tours. Bob Ryan for invaluable help/studio
time and engineering. Thank you colonial chaps !
" I endorse Morgan guitars .The Morgan Homepage which we came
across whilst in Canada Morgan concert model just seemed to have
such a balanced tone and good projection unlike some steel strings
which are too bass dominant or fine for chords but lacking in top
end sustain. I have begun over the past three years to perform in
CGCGCD tuning and DADGAD and the Morgan concerts just seem to have
a beautiful high and low end and a resonant complex middle.`I like
the depth of the C in the bass and the harp like resonance .
I originally came across the CGCGCD or C9 tuning
in " Carolan`s Dream" by Keith Hinchliffe
[ music of the harper Turlough O`Carolan arranged for the guitar
which is absolutely wonderful and thoroughly recommended ISBN 1
899512 373 ].I hope to set up a resource on C9 tuning so if you
have any contributions chord diagrams etc please email me .There
are some C9 website addresses on the links page!
