Greetings

to all from Derek and Heather PUNSHON now living in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

This is Heather writing - and I thought I'd introduce ourselves this issue and then next time get into the serious genealogy stuff.

If you want to know more about us, try our web site

at www .angelfire.com/sk/punshon

Derek is James Derek PUNSHON, born 1941 at Dilston Hall Corbridge, Northumberland - but raised in Dunston, near Gateshead, Co Durham. Parents James Freeman PUNSHON (b 1906) and Doris HAMILTON. Wife is Heather Anne, formerly HAILES from Axwell Park, Blaydon, Co Durham. We both went to Blaydon Grammar School.

GENEALOGY???

- well our PUNSHON branch lived in the Sheriff Hill/Low Fell area of Gateshead in 1841, 1851, 1861,1871,1881 and 1891. - Easy to follow them you think - sure - this is genealogy, right!!! James Derek 1941, James Freeman 1906, John William 1867, Sarah 1850, John 1826. *Who was John PUNSHON born about 1826? He manied Ann SIMPSON in 1851 at St Mary's Gateshead. I have all the birth and maniage and some death certificates back to this John. I suspect his mother was lsabella - but he gives his father's name as John PUNSHON shoemaker on the maniage certificate.

*Who was lsabella Punshon who had a child baptised at Gateshead Fell, St John in December of 1826?

*Did John PUNSHON shoemaker, really exist?

More next time

Heather

From The Arkansas City Republican, January 3, 1885.

J.H. Punshon’s stock of furniture was taken possession of by the sheriff the
first of the week. It came about through the combined forces of several
unfortunate circumstances. His security on a $1,000 note was the principal one.
Mr. Punshon thinks he has assets which will about equal his liabilities.
The REPUBLICAN is sorry this catastrophe came on Mr. Punshon. He is a good
 citizen and deserved better fate.

LATER. Mr. Punshon has settled his accounts in full and once more has possession
of his furniture store. Next week his advertisement will appear in the
REPUBLICAN. He means business now and will make the "fur fly on furniture,"
in the future.

I need full dates, full names where only initials are shown and
details of parents. The confusion lies in the fact that there are so
many events for people with the same or similar names.
I probably have details of any offspring.
 Any further information gratefully accepted.
