Painter,
born at Standerton, Transvaal, South Africa. In the years before World War
I he became a journalist and as a self-taught artist, painted for pleasure.
By 1922 he had settled in London, England and within a few years began painting
in earnest, becoming a member of the London Artists Association. In 1929 he
was elected to the London Group and began a second career as a well known
painter of interiors. He began to exhibit regularly at venues which included,
Archer Gallery, Goupil Gallery, Cooling Gallery, Leicester Galleries and the
Redfern Gallery. He is represented in all the major South African Art Galleries
including, Durban, Johannesburg. Port Elizabeth and the S.A. National Gallery,
Cape Town. In the United Kingdom, He is represented in the collections of
the Arts Council, British Council, and the Art Galleries of Bristol, Cardiff
and Manchester.
