site is intended for the use of invited guests. It is
not intended to be any form of tutorial and assumes the
reader has a working knowledge of the game of bridge. The
pages herein contain my interpretation of the various bids and
conventions that I currently use as a member of the Scunthorpe and
District Bridge Association. That is not to say that I actually remember all that I have written in here, all of the time, but rather that which I wish I could remember. Anyone reading this in hope of getting an insight to my knowledge of Acol, such as it is, should notice that I make no mention of reverse bids, for the simple reason that I've not yet explored that convention. So, if I should make a rebid at the two level in a suit ranking higher than my opening bid, be aware that both of my suits may contain five cards, although the opening suit will be the longer if they are of unequal length and... I may not have the sixteen high card points you might expect. Throughout my web site you may come across pretty obvious symbols for the four suits, in the form 1♣ or say; 4♥. These will represent a bid. Alternatively, those in the form ♦2 or ♠7, in other words, the symbol followed by the figure or letter, will represent a card value. |
