The origins of Macduff Lions lay in a mixture of other clubs that
amalgamated to become the Lions in 1993. The then Doune Colts
disbanded and the decision at that time was to form a
new club under the Macduff Lions banner. Since that time
the club has achieved much in the field of local football provision.
Today Macduff
Lions Football Club offers children, both boys and girls, aged
between 4 and 13 years of age, the opportunity to play
football at a local level in the Macduff and surrounding area of
North East Scotland. All members of the Administrative and Coaching
group are dedicated to building the children's skills in both their
football and group activities.
The
teams are represented in five different age groups / sections:
(1)
Nursery & Primary 1
Boys
(2) Primary 2/3 Boys
(3)
Primary 4/5
Boys
(4)
Primary 6/7 Boys
(5)
Girls (Primary 3 to 7) playing within the boys groups.
(Unhappily the Girls section no longer competes as difficulties in
finding coaches has been an ongoing problem.)
The teams compete at all age levels in both the Summer and
Winter Grampian Leagues and the local Astroturf League. Teams
are entered into a large number of Local
Football Gala events during the Summer months and training takes
place on all types
of surfaces throughout the whole year.
