FLYING TRAINING
Learning to fly R/C aircraft can be quite challenging and not impossible on your own. But, by learning with a club, you will be taught all of the safety procedures that are in place for your own protection as well as that of others. Although any competent club member may help you, there are a number of BMFA registered club instructors at the Marquis Model Flying Club. Here are a few words from the BMFA website
Training for either discipline can be done on the clubs own trainer aircraft with Buddy Boxes or with your own model. All it will usually cost, is the fuel used (IC) and exceptional travelling expenses (if any), but bear in mind that, their personal availability and weather conditions are the controlling factors.
Power Training
Here at the Marquis Model Flying Club, we have two training aircraft. One is an Irvine Tutor 40 the other is a Precedent Hi-Boy. These are used in conjunction with a buddy box, allowing the novice flyer to learn the techniques involved, without the fear of damaging the model. Please contact the IC power instructors to arrange an introductory lesson and discuss your training requirements.
Slope Soaring Trainer
We also have two training gliders for use on the slope. The first one, is an Eppi-Soar from Phoenix Model Products. Made from EPP, it is resilient to the knocks and bumps that can go with your first solo flights. The other, an EasyStar, is an electric model, which allows us to fly even when the wind has deserted us! If you would like to learn to fly this skillful discipline, please contact the gliding representative to arrange a time for your introductory lesson.
