Third point of the season!

Bangor City 0 Wolverhampton W 0, Sunday 2nd May 2004, Oval

A close game was played out at Caernarfon and Bangor earned only their third point of the season. Both sides had chances and Orlik could have scored after a defensive slip but the young keeper made a good save. Wolves then hit the bar and Smith had to stop one attack with her hand which earned a fortunate booking.

Wolves had the greater possession in the second half but rarely threatened to score. In the final five minutes both teams could have won it with the Wolves keeper denying Alwen Williams with a fine save and the post saving City at the other end.

Late leveller for City

Wolverhampton W 1 Bangor City 1 , Sunday 8th February 2004

Bangor secured only their second point of the season with a late equaliser from sub Kirsty Roberts. Wolves started brightly and it was only solid Bangor defending that prevented them from turning pressure into goals. Typical of the defensive display was Alwen Williams outstanding last ditch tackle that prevented a certain goal. When the Wolves strikers did break through they failed to bit City keeper Roberts and must have rued their missed chances at the half-time break. Bangor's only notable effort on goal was a long free-kick by Katie Williams although the Wolves keeper was never seriously threatened.

The second half started with the home team still in the ascendancy but it looked as if their host of missed chances would prove costly. However, with twenty minutes left Blackham out Wolves in the lead with a looped shot from outside the box. With Bangor struggling to create chances it seemed curtains for City but they were rewarded for their stubborn attitude. With fifteen minutes left Roberts came on for the injured Smith and she made her mark on the game with 90 minutes on the clock. The pacey Orlik won corner that Broadbent floated to the near post towards a mass of players. With the strong wind holding the ball up and the keeper failing to claim it Roberts headed home the equaliser.
