City hammer relegated Sky
Blues
Bangor City 6 Coventry City
0 - Axa FA Premier League 28th April 2002
Bangor girls had an
emphatic six-nil victory over Coventry City to condemn the Midlands side
to relegation. Cheryl Foster opened the account within five minutes and
made it two shortly afterwards after uncertain Coventry defending. Ten
minutes from the break Katie Williams made it three with a cool finish
after latching on to a great through ball from Ceryl Jones.
Bangor were always
in control and after the restart added to their score when a great build
up resulted in a free kick twenty-five yards out. Ceryl Jones stepped
up and scored with a low drive into the corner. Cheryl Foster got a well
deserved hat-trick with a clever flick five minutes later and the rout
was rounded off when Tania Jones forced her rebounded shot over the line.
The game ended on a sour note when the Coventry captain was sent off after
kicking young Bangor full-back Laura Pritchard in an off the ball incident.
