The Environmental Management Information & Planning System (EMIPS©) provides a structured framework for your organisation to establish and maintain environmental management systems that can readily be accredited to standards such as ISO 14001. EMIPS provides an integrated holistic approach that creates a dynamic system that enables managers to achieve effective and efficient results. The interface for this framework is an interactive computer-based system which utilises recent developments world-wide in environmental management and information technology.

The software acts as a shell that contains a systems framework This reflects the processes involved in management of the environmental aspects of your organisation. Each section has a guideline and a logic path indicator that shows how this section is connected to the rest of the system.

A generic environmental management system framework is customised to reflect your organisation's individual requirements and training in populating the system is provided. The structure of the framework can be interactively reconfigured by your organisation as required. EMIPS can be networked and electronic links made with other components of your organisation's information systems such as databases. The modular nature of the software allows components to be easily added in the future. Regular software updates will be available to meet future requirements and to utilise improvements in hardware and software technology.

Benefits of using EMIPS for Windows™

  • environmental management using EMIPS results in a more efficient use of funds and staff time leading to a net financial saving;
  • EMIPS enables staff to operate effectively and efficiently through an interactive environmental management framework running on Microsoft Windows;
  • EMIPS ensures an unbiased approach, as the systemic style of approach deals with all aspects of management in an holistic manner;
  • adoption of a standardised system approach ensures consistently optimum performance from one site to another;
  • personnel trained and experienced in EMIPS will be interchangeable from one site to another;
  • EMIPS guides the type and design of surveys so that they contribute to an holistic understanding;
  • EMIPS ensures that data is evaluated, issues analysed and optimum objectives and strategies formulated, culminating in effective and efficient management implementation and control;
  • continuous feedback paths built into the logic structure of EMIPS allows the system to respond to changing environmental conditions in a dynamic manner. EMIPS makes these "cause and effect" logic pathways clearly evident through automatic facilities offered in its graphical user interface;
  • frequent updating of information is simple and rapid due to EMIPS' digital electronic nature. Manipulation of information in digital form considerably aids speed of access, assimilation and interpretation;
  • EMIPS facilitates rapid access to data and related information due to utilisation of current information technology;
  • EMIPS facilitates rapid recovery from negative impacts that have resulted from unforeseeable events;
  • EMIPS clarifies and strengthens internal and external organisational links;
  • EMIPS provides a framework for utilising elements of Geographical Information Systems;
  • EMIPS can be dynamically linked with existing computer databases, spreadsheets, models etc.
